Rimington rounded off their run of home fixtures against Langho, and they showed an excellent team spirit as they battled their way to an important victory.

An early free kick from Devenney had Tootle interested but a firm connection was lacking and the ball skipped through to keeper

Good hold up play from Bagot brought Bailey in from wide but he couldn't find space for the shot as the defender closed the gap.

Rimmy pushed forward and Tomlinson did well to regain possession as he nipped in to steal it. A reverse pass sent Wood through but the full back recovered quickly to block the shot.

It was all Rimmy and lovely control from Devenney 20-yards out saw him take it into his stride. He had just one thing in mind as he skipped forward but Langho’s keeper dived to parry the fierce strike away.

With 20’ gone Langho took the lead. Kershaw was left with no chance when an excellent free kick found the top corner.

Rimmy were close to pulling level almost straight away when a half clearance fell invitingly to Bailey. He tried to lob it into the top corner but it fell agonisingly wide.

The tempo of the game remained high, despite the chances drying up, Tomlinson tried to take matters into his own hands with a speculative effort from distance.

Rimmy pushed and probed and Bagot showed good control to take a ball over the top in his stride. He spun, and fed it to Bailey, his drop of the shoulder and snapshot cannoned off the post.

On 42 minutes Langford capitalised on a defensive error, he squared the ball to JamesTootle and he scored from close range.

HT 1-1

Within moments of the restart Wood overlapped and crossed on the run. Tootle had the goal at his mercy, just eight yards out, but he lost his bearings and sent his shot wide.

Wood was the man causing problems out wide again as the Rimmy controlled play, and his drop of a shoulder earned space for a cross. He delivered it well and won a free kick for his efforts as he was chopped to the floor. The delivery was perfect to attack but McCarthy sent his header over the bar as he came under pressure at close range.

On came debutant Fin Devenney and Joel Phelps with 60’ on the clock.

A crunching tackle from Tyrrell sparked the next attack as he was able to run into the unexpected space created by the challenge. Bagot showed once again but his shot was stopped at source on this occasion.

Excellent defending from Murphy, prevented the forward from having a clean sight of the target as Langho struggled to find a way through.

Corner deliveries went begging for the hosts as more and more men were pushed into attacking areas!

In the final minutes Man of the Match Wood went past his man before clipping the ball across the face of the goal. Chris Bailey wheeled away in celebration after a well taken finish from 6 yards.

The closing stages became a lesson in game management as Rimmy moved the ball around in some style.

Manager David Cook said “ It was a difficult game and Langho played deep and defended well and it was important to play with a high tempo. My players come out in the second half with more desire and put them under pressure.
