Rimington produced the club's greatest ever comeback against Barrowford Celtic on Saturday afternoon. With storm Atiyah raging and almost impossible playing conditions Rimmy came back from a 5 goal first half deficit.

Celtic had a gale force wind at their backs in the first half. An early opportunity to test Rimmy’s goal came from a wickedly hit corner that cannoned off the crossbar.

(5) Rimmy’s hands were on heads when a deep cross from the right flank was met by the unmarked striker. He guided a neat header into the back of the net.

(13) Celtic’s lively number 9 beat the offside trap to make a wonderful through ball his own and he had Kershaw well and truly beaten with a thumping strike from the angle.

(30) On the half hour Rimmy had no luck. Again Celtic’s striker worked space in the box, his shot ricocheted off Tyrell into the unguarded bottom corner.

(35) Just minutes later Celtic were 4 up! The home took a more direct approach in their next foray forward. A swirling long goal kick beat Rimmy’s backline, Celtic’s predatory striker was on the run. He found the back of the net with ease as he shrugged off the attentions of his marker and guided the ball over Kershaw.

(43) An error from Rimmy just on half time saw the ball robbed in a very dangerous area. Celtic’s wingback split the defence with a neat pass. Celtic’s burly striker looked up as he raced into the area and slid the ball in with ease.

HT Celtic 5-0 Rimmy

During a heated half-time team talk manager David Cook demanded his players show some pride and passion in the second period.

(46) Rimmy were off the mark with just 60 seconds on the clock. Wood’s cross found Matt Bagot who used his strength to brush off his marker, he made no mistake with a superb header.

(50) Rimmy’s deserved second goal came when they ripped Celtic to pieces. Fowler fed a lovely pass through for Wood to chase and his first time cross was met by James Tootle. Celtic’s keeper had no chance as it bulged the back of his net.

Tootle was next to test the target when his crisp shot was pushed to safety after a worldy save by the home stopper.

(59) Rimmy were back in the contest on the hour. Joel Phelps popped a smart finish in from close range when he got on the end of another excellent Devenney corner.

Kershaw made an excellent block, with a dive down low to his left as the forward bared down on goal

(63) Sub Louis James was the next man on the scoresheet. A brilliant touch from Bagot allowed James space, his clipped shot found the back of the net. Celtic 5-4 Rimmy Game On!!!

Rimmy attacked with pace in the next attack as they used Phelps as an outlet and he opened things up at a tight angle. His shot took a deflection before crashing into the side netting.

(81) James Tootle took matters into his own hands as he ran passed markers. He set the watching supporters alight as he pulled the trigger, with the home keeper well beaten as the ball crashed in.

More tenacious work from Fowler took him through a series of challenges in midfield and Wood took over with a surging run before he played the ball off to his left. Phelps was there, but so was the home keeper.

(90) In the dying moments of the game Rimmy scored an unbelievable 6th goal. Tootle picked up a loose ball and played through Man of the Match Joel Phelps, he rounded the outrushing keeper and finished with ease. Rimmy players wheeled away in wild celebration!!!

FT Celtic 5-6 Rimmy

Manager David Cook: “I'm absolutely delighted and proud with the way my players responded after a highly charged half-time team talk. My players came out in the second half with more desire and put them under pressure. We kept grinding them down and overloading midfield and the goals came. The downside was the manner of the goals we conceded which left me extremely disappointed but it’s never an easy place to come and get a result.”
